The GAIA was built to out play Theo's very best Florida Otto Link. Theo succeeded!
Infused with the spirit of Dexter Gordon, the GAIA tends to a traditional taste, but is quite versatile like an AMMA.
With its short-medium-baffle rolling into its True Large Chamber with precision-carved sidewalls, the GAIA has a Florida Link design with the bells and whistles of a Theo Wanne. |

Using Pressure Plates to Modify Your Sound
The variations in a sound that can be created by utilizing different pressure plates is commonly over-looked.
Pressure plates not only hold the reed in place, but vibrate with it, acting in tandem. Just as a thick reed will play different than a thin reed, so will a thick pressure plate compared to a thin one. Different materials act similarly.
Theo has crafted many different plates:

The pressure plates ...", wrote MikeNYC.
"Hey buddy. It's 3:30am and I'm still up transcribing Chris Potter. The guy has CHOPS!
I've also been experimenting with the pressure plates. An interesting experience I thought you might like to hear!
I ordered the Titanium, Solid Silver, and Heavy Brass. They REALLY DO make a difference!
All three definitely made a noticeable, artistic difference...", says Brad. |

"My 13 year old son is playing tenor sax, and his instructor wanted me to get him a different mouthpiece. He wanted a meyer if possible. I did purchase a vintage one.
If I read this site right it is an early NY USA model, but boy is it tough to know for sure.
Any input on this, also how to you know what exactly vintage is?"
Theo answered, "
It is a very good question actually, and it is indeed hard to tell what is an early NY USA versus a later one.
My recommendation would be the following:"

AUTHENTICITY
Theo writes, "Allowing my authentic and real self to shine, un-restrained, has been my life’s work. It has been a process of letting go of how I think a good musician should sound, and playing what feels authentic to me.

And after all, aren’t most of the jazz greats considered great because they brought..."
