The wait is over! Theo Wanne’s new DURGA and KALI alto mouthpieces are here. Indeed, some things truly are worth waiting for.
As Theo states, "We are opening up an entirely new world with our True Large Chamber alto mouthpieces. Large chambers have been explored widely in the world of tenor mouthpieces, but very little has been done with alto mouthpieces.
This is particularly true with marrying the lush sound of a True Large Chamber with a contemporary high baffle. The alto mouthpiece has entirely different design requirements than a tenor, so it is just not a simple task of scaling down a tenor design.
I love the sound of a True Large Chamber, and am incredibly proud to offer it in alto models now . They just open up a whole new world."

Keyan Williams
Keyan's wonderful debut CD The Art of Living in 2006 featured a combination of smooth jazz and funky grooves with a soulful touch, reminiscent of Grover Washington Jr. Now living in New York, Keyan is focusing on his new CD Blazin and his 2010 international tour.
We love this picture of Keyan (left) with New York Woodwind & Brasswind owner Rod Baltimore.

We are proud to have Keyan as an endorser and excited that the many pros in, and swinging through, New York can try our pieces at Rod's highly respected store.
Keyan's Art of Living sound clip is played on a Vintified KALI 8.

The Enlightened Ligature
Theo sat down with all the best ligatures past and present, and made a better one.
Like the Liberty Ligature, with its super minimal contact to the mouthpiece and huge vibrational qualities, the Enlightened ligature brings out a bigger, fuller and more alive sound.

In Theo's words, "You'll feel like you have a whole new mouthpiece."
The Enlightened Ligature will be available for all mouthpiece types from Soprano up through Baritone. It will come standard with our Stable Wood mouthpieces.

On an earlier thread about buzz and the baffle of a saxophone mouthpiece, Theo had written,
"The baffle of a mouthpiece is greatly responsible for buzz in the sound.

The thumbprint in the baffle is due to very little roll-over right behind the tip rail. It basically creates a longer, but lower, baffle resulting in good projection, but very little buzz.."
SittsIt recently responded, "This thumbprint you're talking about, is this the kind of indentation we see near the tip of a Berg Larsen?"
Theo answered, "Yes, similar to the Bergs.
Very slight alterations in this area can create or remove buzz. It is so subtle that..."

The Magical Mouthpiece
Theo writes, "Saxophone music is extraordinarily diverse. We hear romantic foo-foo smooth saxophone music perfect for embracing our significant other in front of a crackling fire. We can hear a clean classical saxophone in a symphony orchestra.
And then there is the edgy, growling, foot-stomping saxophone heard at a rock & roll concert.

Because there are so many types of sound to choose from, and these sounds are created in the mouthpiece, the mouthpiece is arguably the most important part of your entire set-up. It is definitely why..."
