Hard Rubber Revolution
Gains Momentum !

KALI Alto Hard Rubbers are here!

The KALI Alto Hard Rubber with its
True Large Chamber is breaking new ground. Large chambers have been widely explored in the history of tenor mouthpieces, but very little has been done with alto mouthpieces, until now.

We are proud to introduce BY FAR the highest quality, most resonant, hard rubber available today in saxophone mouthpieces, Theo Wanne Premium Hard Rubber.

Our KALI alto mouthpieces open up a whole new world for the alto saxophone.

Hard Rubber - Vintage is BACK

istan asked , "I recently acquired a metal "the Woodwind Co. NY" 7* tenor mpc (X364 on the shank) that plays wonderfully. Unfortunately, it came without a ligature. I would appreciate your suggesting a suitable metal ligature, if there is any, for this mouthpiece. I currently play it with a BG fabric ligature that is cumbersome adjusting to the reed, plus the reed often looses its alignment on the table.

A similar question I have about a suitable metal ligature for an old metal Otto Link master 4**** which also came without a ligature. Would the same ligature fit both of these mpcs? "

Theo responds, "I believe that model has a kind of leaf design around the shank too. If I remember correctly those have a slightly fatter body, but a Francois Louis metal tenor ligature should work.

We are also be making an Enlightened Ligature that will fit it. Both of these ligatures should.."

After three years of research and development, Theo has resurrected the premium hard rubber left behind by the vintage pieces of the 1950s:

Theo optimized manufacturing
techniques and recipes for hard
rubber used in the 1940s and 50s by
the Meyer Bros., Otto Link, and
Henry Chedeville.

Theo writes, "I have been fortunate to work with a lot of great quality vintage hard rubber mouthpieces. I have found that the quality of rubber can usually be seen in the color of its shavings when filed, as well as its sanding lines when sanded.

As shown so distincly above, the sanding lines from benchmark vintage hard rubber pieces match our new premium hard rubber. Almost all modern hard rubber leaves the grayish markings, bringing less resonance and a bitter taste with it (when sanded)."
